Trouble with a Wondereye camera?

Wondereye is a camera made by a somewhat defunct company that packaged our iVisit software on their installer CD. They are not part of iVisit. For your camera to work properly you will need the latest drivers for it. We have searched high and low for updated drivers and one of our users recommended the below sites as a possible solution:
Driverguide.com

Image Preparation for pasting still
Open a picture and Copy the picture then click on your iVisit window
Paste it by right clicking (paste from clipboard)

Drag-N-Drop images and media
You can also now Pause local AV and Drag-N-Drop a still image onto your screen.

MAC SECTION:

  • Download the iVisit version made for your Mac, OS 9 OR OS X.
  • Download the most recent version of QuickTime.
  • Power up your video camera and plug into the right socket. (iSight is a firewire cam)
  • If you have the Apple Video Player software on your Mac test out the camera with that. In 99% of cases if things work OK with that they are fine with iVisit.
  • If using an iSight camera and video will freeze. Having the current driver for it is recommended, but another "fix" is for the user to zoom and then unzoom the view and that will unfreeze the video. Also try lowering quality codec to 5.

DISABLE iChat:

  1. In iChat got to iChat > preferences
  2. Click on the video tab.
  3. De-select "Automatically open iChat when the camera is turned on"
  4. Quit iChat and run iVisit
NO VIDEO (OSX) OS 9 section below
  1. Go to applications folder > utilities > Apple system profiler
  2. Go to the "Devices and Volumes" (tab on the top)
  3. Make sure the camera shows up in the proper port (USB, FIREWIRE)
Possible reasons for the camera not appearing in the proper list of USB or Firewire devices:
  • No extension (driver) installed for the camera.
  • Camera is not plugged in properly.
  • There is a problem with the port on the computer.
  • Possibly the camera is not driven by a Jaguar native driver, has no driver installed or is not OSX compatible
3rd party cam drivers to try on OSX
For USB cams try the macam driver:
http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net

For FIREWIRE cams IOXperts
http://www.ioxperts.com/

Users with iSight cam, OS 10.2.6.
The iSight camera was released after 10.2.6, so therefore you need to install iChat software so it will install the iSight camera driver(s), Now the iSight camera should then work with iVisit.
  • Install the iChat AV (Available free at www.apple.com/ichat)
  • The iChat installer will require you to re-boot after installing.
  • Open up iVisit and video and do the video settings to your liking.

OSX users that have a Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 (may apply to other Logitech cams also). If you used yahoo messenger with the cam, then exits and comes to iVisit, the cam may or may not show in the Video Device settings with a preview but will not show in the user AV Window. (note: the user just rebooting does not resolve the issue)

The reason this happens is yahoo messenger will use the Video resolution as 320x240.  If the iVisit user has the lite version, this will not default to the required Setting of 160x120 so the user needs to take the following steps in iVisit.

  1. Click Settings (top menu bar)
  2. Click Video Device Settings
  3. Click Quickcam
  4. Click General
  5. Click " Set to Factory Defaults." Please See Below image of Example.

iVisit Settings Preferences window OS X

NO VIDEO (OS 9)
  1. Go to the apple menu > apple system profiler
  2. Go to the "Devices and Volumes" tab at the top
  3. Make sure the camera shows up in the proper port (USB, FIREWIRE)
Possible reasons for the camera not appearing in the proper list of USB or Firewire devices:
  1. No extension (driver) installed for the camera.
  2. Camera is not plugged in properly.
  3. There is a problem with the port on the computer.
Make sure cam drivers are loading during boot
  1. Go to apple menu > control panels > extension manager
  2. Look for cam driver and make sure it has a check mark in the box.
  3. If not, mark it and reboot.
Check for Extension Conflicts
  1. Go to apple menu > control panels > extension manager
  2. Pull the tab at the top to Mac OS9 Base
  3. Go through the list of extensions and find all those associated with the cam drivers and also check mark those.
  4. Reboot
If this works go back into the system extensions and turn on extensions a few at a time and reboot until you find the conflicting extension

TESTING VIDEO (AUDIO also):
Try to test your video or Audio in another program to see that your camera and extensions are working properly. (i.e. Logitech's Picture Editor or other video conferencing software.)
Or try Apple Video Player that access the same QuickTime elements that iVisit does
