How to place your cam and lighting for optimal quality conditions
Use this general guideline to get the most of your video conferencing experience and having optimal camera quality. Note that camera quality is up to the camera, hardware and Internet connection between yourself and others. Not all cameras are equal, some are great in daylight but horrible in night conditions. In the floor-plan view, the cam is situated behind the monitor. The best distance to the face is about 80 cm (30 inches). For right handed people the lamp should be placed at the left side of the keyboard to help prevent shadows. |

In this side-drawing you see the cam behind the monitor and above the lamp. The height of the cam should be about the same height as your face.
The illumination of the lamp should show downwards to the desk/keyboard ( never directly on your face). With a white cover of the desk may be a white paper underlay under your keyboard you can reflect the light to your face to get an indirect illumination. |
