Some common rules of etiquette in iVisit

Removing or banning from a room

Sometime you may be Removed or Banned (sometimes called "booted") from a chat room in someone's Home.

The Home owner always has the ability to remove or ban someone. Users who have been made Home moderators also have that ability. Typically someone is booted for breaking one or more of the Home rules, which are usually posted and seen as you enter the room. Sometimes in a user's Home, someone is removed to make space for a good friend, and sometimes someone is removed accidentally. It is not common for someone to be removed or banned from a Home without a reason, but occasionally it happens.

If you are removed or banned from a Home:

  1. You may be able to find out why you were removed or banned if you can chat with the Home owner or someone who was in the Home. You may be able to do this if you see them in another Home where you are not banned. Otherwise, you may need to simply accept the ban and spend your time in other areas of iVisit.
  2. Helpers in the Help Desk cannot reinstate you. They have no power to do that.
  3. Realize that if you have been REMOVED, you may try to re-enter the room in 15 minutes.
  4. Home owners and moderators do have the ability to unban you. If you have been banned in error, they have the option to unban you almost immediately.
