Asynchronous file transfer:

You can transfer files and folders in the background, while you are online but not connected. The person's Username.#### (i.e. Alicia.1234) must be in your Address Book to use this feature.

Click the person's name in your Address Book to open their AV window then:

  • Drag & drop a file or folder onto their AV window picture or
  • Click [Message] then drag & drop a file or folder into the Chat Message panel or
  • On their AV window top right > menu choose 'Send file' and select the item.

Transfer progress - in the Chat Message window you will see a line like:

  • 09:06 AM yourname: Sending file: DSC00308.jpg (2285 KB) Options
    and the receiving party will see a message line like:
  • 09:06 AM yourname: Get file: DSC00308.jpg (2285 KB) Options
    moving their mouse over the filename turns the pointer into a hand, a click will change to:
  • 09:07 AM yourname: Requesting file: DSC00308.jpg (2285 KB) Options

If the user is online, the status bar of the Chat window will show transfer progress

  • Receiving from yourname: DSC00308.jpg (2285 10% complete) 20.5 KB/sec

When complete the receiving party will see a message line like:

  • 09:09 AM yourname: Open file: DSC00308.jpg (2285 KB) Options

Click file name to open in the default application, folders open in file browser display.
The sender's AV window top right > menu 'Received files' option displays your local hard drive folder.

When complete the sender will see a message line like:

  • 09:09 AM yourname: Sent file: DSC00308.jpg (2285 KB) Options

NOTE: If you send a file to a person who's offline they will receive a message at next logon, if you request a file from a person who's offline it will be queued until they next logon. If either party logs off during a file transfer it will resume automatically next time both come online

Send & Receive Options:
Send, pause or cancel the file or folder transfer. Receive, refuse or delete the item.
Receive - by clicking links, automatically from this person, never from this person
