Share files and URL's

To send a file to others you're connected with - either 1:1 or in a Chat room

Open the Sharing window from the top menu bar Tools menu

Drag a file into the Sharing window or hit the Load button to open the local file browser and drag from there into the left panel, you can resize the panels by dragging the vertical divider, and resize the window by dragging the bottom right hand corner.

Click the send button and the currently displayed file will be sent to all who are receiving. If you hold down the Send button for a moment, then it will lock in the down position and anything you display in the Sharing window after that will also be sent.

If you drag and drop a folder onto the Sharing window, the entire contents of the folder will be sent.

Whenever you send a file it will be sent to each person you are connected to who:

  1. Is using newest iVisit version
  2. Has the Sharing window open
  3. Has the receive files button in the down position
  4. Has not blocked file reception from you
  1. If you see a red slash in the "browser reception" icon below their video window, it means they will not receive your file for one of these reasons.

If there is no red slash, it means they will have a chance to receive your file. However, they might still refuse it through the permissions dialog explained in the "Receive files" section.

When the file transfer begins the progress status will be shown in the bottom bar of the Sharing window

Transferring filename to Username, x% of yK sent

When the transfer is complete it will display in the Sharing window or the relevant application.

If the user already has that file from you it is not sent again, simply displayed/run from their local folder.

To cancel a send in progress, press the Stop button , disconnect from the other user, or close the Sharing window.

You can move back or forward through your sent files

Hit refresh to reload and resend

To delete a received file select it and hit the trash can button

You can not delete other files and folders from your hard drive this way, only files received over iVisit sharing.
