Share files and URL's

To receive files from others you are connected to, either 1:1 or in a chat room;

Open the Sharing window from the top menu bar Tools menu

Turn on 'Receive files and URL's' by clicking the Receive button

Mac note: This is called "File Sharing" (apple + s) If the Sharing window is open you are capable of receiving files.

When you're sent a file a dialogue box will pop up

  • Accept always from Username - automatically accept all files sent by this user
  • Accept this file - accept this file, but show dialogue again if they send another
  • Refuse always from Username - never accept files sent by this user
  • Refuse this file - refuse this file, but show dialogue again if they send another

You can also block file and URL reception from a certain user at any time by depressing the "browser reception" button below their video window.

User settings for send/receive/call handling can be changed at any time, click here for more details.

Mac note: can Receive URL and can send via the file sharing window. Drag and drop URL's into the window.

When the file transfer begins the progress status will be shown in the bottom bar of the window

When the transfer is complete it will display in the Sharing window or the relevant application.

If they already sent that file to you it is not sent again, simply displayed/run from your local folder.

You can move back or forward through your received files

To hold the current image in the window and not have it replaced by the next file press Pause. When the Pause button is down, any new files and URL's will be received as they are sent. However, your browser will not display them until you press the Forward button

Mac note: Received files are now in the pop up selector for review/reloading

To cancel a receive in progress, press the Stop button , close the Sharing window, or disconnect from the user who is sending.

Mac note: No browser for the file sharing window. Press the stop button is best, close the sharing window or disconnect from user.

Viewing, copying and managing received files;

Files you receive are saved in a separate folder for each iVisit user who has sent files to you.

To access these files, click on the "Load files" button to open the local file browser panel.

To open a file, drag it into the Sharing window.

Mac note: No browser for the file sharing window, To view files that you have received from a user, click on their AV window ( black arrow top right ) >view received files a window will open in the finder. To delete Files just drag the files to your trash can.

User settings can be changed at any time by clicking the Top Right arrow on their Remote Video Window and then clicking User Settings. The following window will appear giving you the option and control over how one particular user's incoming calls, messages and files are handled.
