AVMessaging allows users to send Audio/Video, Audio only, or Files easily using the Remote AV window of anyone in your Address Book > People List while not connected to that person in a chat room or one-to-one. Both parties must be logged into iVisit at the same time for the transfer to take place.

Send an AVMessage: Click and HOLD the AVMessage button to record your message, when done simply release. When releasing the Audio/Video or Audio only button, the "Confirm send" window (example below right) will open showing the time length. You can then click on "Send" to transmit the item or "Discard" to cancel the item and not send it.

NOTE: If you select to "Send always without confirmation dialogue", you can deselect this by clicking the small right-facing black arrow to the right of the word "Record" under your Local AV window, then click "Live record settings" and un-check "Send A/V messages without confirmation dialogue"

Receiving an AVMessage: A permissions window will appear asking if you wish to receive AVMessages from this person. You can change this at any time by clicking the top-right arrow on their remote AV window and selecting "User Settings".

All operations are started from the tools at the bottom of the other person's Remote AV window. From right to left, these tools are:

Right button:

  • Call - requests a one-to-one connection.

Middle group of buttons:

  • Message - allows a text item to be sent from your Chat window.
  • File - Opens directory and allows a file to be sent
  • Audio/Video message - records an audio/video message while that button is held down.
  • Audio only message - records an audio only message while button is held down.

Left group of buttons:

  • Forward - when green, allows the user to advance to other available items.
  • Play - when arrow is green, there is an Audio/Video or Audio only item to play. If the box around the arrow is yellow, it indicates that the item is new and has not been viewed yet. While in play mode, the AVMessage can be paused.
Note: The user will see the day, date, and time just below the sender's nickname at the top of the Remote AV window.
  • Rewind - when the arrow is green, there are older items you can back up to.
